Mission
Preserving the legacy of César E Chávez through Education, Commemoration, Service and Self Determination
About
The Lansing for César E. Chávez Committee is a grass roots 501 C-3 non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the legacy of the great labor leader César E. Chávez, who represents the American ideal of equality, tolerance and justice.
Chávez employed nonviolent means to bring attention to the plight of farm workers. He led marches, called for boycotts and went on several hunger strikes. His dedication to his work earned him numerous friends and supporters, including Robert Kennedy and Rev. Jesse Jackson. His unwavering efforts of assuring fair wages, good living and humane working conditions, adequate health care, education, and respect for American farm workers continues to this very day.
